The
Town of Freeport is located along the shores of Casco Bay,
approximately two hours north of Boston and only 20 minutes
north of Portland. A perfect mid-way stop for further points
north. The Inn is located on US 1, a quiet section of Freeport,
just two blocks on foot from historic attractions, museums,
art galleries, restaurants, unique antique shops, and over
170 factory outlet stores including L.L. Bean.
Well known for its outlet shopping areas,
Freeport also possesses a combination of rural, residential,
ocean-front and recreational areas. The town is rich in its
beauty and history. You can picnic by the side of the road
or in a pristine park. Pick a pumpkin . . . or a peck of apples.
Spend the day, stay the night, then take it all in again.
Maine's countryside - its picturesque coastline, villages,
farms, rivers and streams . . .
When you stay at the Freeport Clipper Inn,
with its tasteful blend of Maine history and modern conveniences,
you will experience all the ambiance, beauty, and comfort
of a lovingly cared for historic Sea Captain's house . . .
A bargain hunter's paradise, Freeport is
a collection of retailing experiences from outlets to company
stores to small gift shops that combine to offer a unique
shopping extravaganza. Visitors should plan to wander around
town to enjoy not only the stores on Main Street but also
the nooks and crannies on the side streets and the outlet
malls further out of the village. One common theme is apparent
in the shops everywhere in town: a myriad of quality merchandise
and "one of a kind" finds await the shopper in Freeport.
Freeport
is fortunate to have a wide range of restaurant options available
for dining out. From traditional lobster dinners, New England
clam bakes, chowders, and excellent fresh seafood fare, to
hand made pizzas fired in real, authentic wood burning ovens.
Many of these fine establishments are within
a very easy walking distance from the inn. For dress up or
going casual, Freeport has it all.
Menus are available at the inn for you to
review, and we would also be most happy to make reservations
for you in advance.
